We did not have our phones during this event. we can not provide pictures. the object was spotted around 2130; it "winked" into existence, as if it has suddenly turned on its lights. it remained visible as it continued its course, south to north, perhaps following the path of the ohio river a few blocks away from our house. the moment lasted less than five minutes. it "winked" out and we saw no additional activity after that. its altitude was between 700-1000 ft; it moved along, sometimes seeming to momentarily hover. our best estimate is that it moved no less than 25 mph and no more than 50 mph. it was a brilliant orange-red light that shone steadily. we couldn't ascertain any shape. it made no sound. this was not an airplane or helicopter. it is plausible that this was a drone. however, a drone of that size requires a remote pilot certificate from the faa. if a drone, the pilot violated the faa 's small uas rule by operating in a careless manner (no lights or beacons before and after the drone traversed its course).
