I looked up to see a airliner flying over my house when i noticed one of the stars in the sky moving rapidly on a steady course north towards the airliner. suddenly a large spotlight turned on briefly and shut off, which the light was enough to radiate the surrounding spotty clouds and the airliner. i thought it was a satellite in the atmosphere until it shined a light which revealed it was the same elevation as the airliner. i thought it was going to collide into the airliner but it passed by closely and then turned east and the object turned off the light and i couldn't see it any longer. i saw this same type of object to the west on the night before and thought it was a satellite until it disappeared just like the sighting on monday night. i believe the flight was a alaskan air or airbus departing pdx around 9:20pm arriving redmond oregon although the airliner looked as if it was on approach to mcminnville oregon. that flight may have witnesses as well. the duration the craft was visible, there was no strange noise or anything standing out such as zig zag movement etc. it was very subtle and i would not have noticed it at all if i was not paying attention and curious what it was. it was a smooth steady movement but faster than a jet. i could not identify its size as it only had a small steady white light that made it look like another star in the sky or satellite seen with the naked eye.
