I am a retired resident of naples maine,77 years old . on 8/5/20 i was sitting in my backyard with my son (33 years old) and was observing the sky above. i happened to notice one very small cloud in an otherwise clear blue sky. it was almost straight above us.
i noted to my son that it was a little strange to see just one small cloud in the sky. note that my home is surrounded by pine trees and my backyard has about a 100 foot clearing in the trees. as i was pointing out the cloud to my son, i noticed what i at first thought was a plane flying over us, fairly close to the cloud which was drifting by at a lower level, perhaps 2-3 thousand feet, maybe a little higher. the object seemed to be traveling at a speed higher than a piper but less than a jet, maybe 2-3 hundred mph or so. within five seconds or so i noted to my son that it wasn't a plane as it had no wings. it was a straigtht cylinder with rounded ends, it at first seemed to be white but that may have been a sunlight reflection as my last view of it (last five seconds or so) it seemed to look metalic. no sound at all. i am an air force brat and very familiar with aircraft and their characteristics and quickly noted to my son that planes have wings and have sound. in all, this object was visible for about 20-25 seconds until it reach the treeline, heading southeast and looked to be heading toward the north end of sebago lake. if you cut about 3/4 inch out of a ten penney nail , rounded the ends and held it at arms length, it would look similar. .
