At about 9:0pm on july 19th, 2020, i spotted an object in the sky heading nne over the upper end of moore lake in north littleton n.H.- traveling at a speed similar to watching the iss pass overhead... this object was constantly emitting a bright reddish (maybe pinkish) color and about double the size of the brightest evening star. there were no other lights apparent - flashing or otherwise. i could not hear any sound typical of a passing jet. i called loudly to my housemate gail, and she responded quickly enough to view it before it went behind the trees - seeming to be passing over dalton and/or gilman, vt which is north of us... we were under a thick overcast and i have no clue as to the cloud ceiling, but it was pretty low. i'd venture a guess of between 5 and 7k feet. lastly, no visible con-trail. it looked quite like a red flare, but it's steady, straight line of travel indicated propulsion. i have served as an emergency management director in a small town, and as a weather info contributor to our local grid, and i am intimately familiar with most all types of normal aerial phenomenon. i have posted a queery to a local facebook page asking for response from any other observer in my area... we'll see what happens.
