It was about 6:25 pm at night in a rural area in vermont houses are distant but house lights are visible from a far. my husband and i took the dogs out and i carried a powerful flashlight with me that lights up the field and treeline which are over 100 yards away from us. i saw that beyond 130 yards and beyond my next field over and above the tree lines in my woods that there was a string of 4 lights. all were red except one that appeared pinkish. i remarked to my husband that i had never seen house lights in that direction and that it didn't make sense that there even was a house over there to see. the land would have to rise abruptly in that area for lights to be seen over the treetops. i asked him to take a look as i shone the flashlight on the string of lights just so he could see the general direction. his glasses were off and he could not see them at all. i watched the lights trying to figure out why they were there. then the lights started to move upwards as if they had been hovering in place all the time i was watching it. i watched the lights ascend slowly and then it disappeared into darkness. i ran into the house frightened.
