The two of us were in a remote area in a hot tub viewing the stars. we had done this practically every weekend for years. as we viewed the sky we noticed something we had never seen before. moving across the sky were two small star like white lights. they were in perfect alignment with each other (front to back) and moving at the same speed. appearing at first to be the front and back lights of a large object. the lights were very, very high, appearing to be the same size and luminosity of most of the average stars in the area. the lights were steady. did not blink, twinkle or change color. although at first glance, the two lights appeared to be part of one object, as it moved across the sky, we could see stars behind and in between the two lights indicating it was indeed two separate lights or a transparent object. what caught our interest was the altitude, and the way the lights stayed in complete synchronicity with each other. they appeared to be too far apart and too high to be a helicopter and too close to not be "together" or a part of one thing. there was no noise associated with the object(s). we watched it move at moderate speed across the sky in a straight path, never changing direction, from the northwest to the southeast in aprox. 3 to 5 minutes, where we eventually lost sight of the lights.
