Here’s a short document from Edward Tauss, acting chief of OSI’s Weapons and Equipment Division, noting that while most UFO sightings have prosaic explanations, a few cannot be explained and, therefore, the subject of UFOs does require further investigation and that an interplanetary cause cannot be ruled out while such UFOs remain UFOs. He recommends that the CIA continue surveillance of the subject but urges that “no indication of CIA interest or concern reach the press or public, in view of their probable alarmist tendencies.”
