When i was in elementary school, my parents and i were out in our backyard, enjoying a meteor shower. i believe it was probably one of perseids meteor showers, but i don't remember that detail from that far back. we lived out in the country, so the sky was very clear and we could easily see the meteors. at some point mid-through the shower, an extremely bright light was cast on us from an unknown source. it was very sudden, like someone just clicked on a lamp up above. we weren't that close to our road, but since we were bewildered, we looked to see if there was anything on the road that could've caused that light. it seemed improbable then, and the more i think about it, the less probable it seems. we also had no close neighbors, and our property directly bordered a corn field (how stereotypical!), which is the direction we were facing. the light covered not just us sitting on our blanket on the grass, but the general area around us as well. it lit up the area like it was daylight, and i know a vehicle's headlights can't do that. there was no sound, so it was extremely eerie. we of course looked in the sky for the light source, but the light was so bright that we couldn't have seen anything even if it wanted to be seen. after maybe a minute of unwavering light cast on us, it clicked off as suddenly as it had clicked on, and that was it. to this day, i have no rational explanation for what it was, and it's one of the strangest experiences i've ever had.
