During the early evening of may 11th, 2019, my girlfriend and i had just walked out on my back patio, which has a tremendous view of the sandia mountains to the east, when we observed a flying, black object heading our direction from the north end of the sandia mountains. the object was moving smoothly and rapidly west/southwest. our first notion was that the object was a helicopter heading directly towards us. however, the object was completely silent and it's movement was so fast and fluid that we quickly ruled out that possibility. i ran inside the house and got my binoculars, a very nice pair of leupold 10x50's. i was able to view the object for a few seconds before i gave the binoculars to my girlfriend. i could see it clearly. it appeared to be a completely black, spherical object. neither of us could detect any windows, lights or structural features on the object. however, it had a short, pointed protrusion on its forward surface. it looked like a large black ball with a nose. it was not an elongated point, like a teardrop . and, it was right in the center of the leading surface. the object appeared to be about the size of a u-haul rental truck, but scale and distance were difficult to determine. however, i'm guessing that it was about 1500 feet off the ground. it's surface did reflect light, but was more of a satin finish, rather than glossy. at it's nearest point towards us it arced southward, while climbing higher, and then disappeared into the high, gray cloud cover. this occurred a good hour before sundown.
