UFO Sighting in Bryan, Texas on 1971-11-10 17:20:00 – A bright silver oval object was seen overhead and it rapidly crossed the sky gaining altitude until it disappeared in 3 min.

My wife and i arrived home in bryan, tx from the texas a&m campus where i was a graduate student in aerospace engineering. we got out of the car in our driveway at ~5:20 pm and looked up to see some birds flying overhead. we then saw in the clear blue sky a bright slivery oval object flying almost directly overhead. it had no apparent appendages but just looked oval shaped, made no sound, and left no contrail. it flew rapidly across the sky in a southerly direction while appearing to gain altitude. we lost sight of it in ~3 min as it appeared to cross the sky until a great distance away. elevation angle changed from ~45 deg to 30 deg over those 3 min. the neighbors were also outside and we pointed the object out and they also saw it. the sun had not yet set and no stars were visable.
