I was shooting fireworks with my girlfriend and her daughter. i was watching fireworks when i noticed a burnt orange colored oval shaped object moving west to east across the sky. the object was at least hundreds of feet (possibly more) above any type of firework in the sky and it was moving horizontally not vertically. as i was watching it, my girlfriends daughter said "what the heck is that thing?!?". right about then it stopped moving, hovered for a few seconds, and then either shot at an incredible rate of speed to the south, or disappeared into a singular point. i could not tell which one from the angle i was observing it from. i spent 21yrs in the army, and currently work for the d.O.D, it was neither a fixed wing or rotary aircraft.
i waited to file this for multiple reasons, so i am not 100% sure if it was the 3rd or 4th of july. i thought it was the 3rd, but my girlfriend says it was the 4th.
