We went up into the hills here to look at the comet, which we found eventually. and discovered when we got home we have an even better view from our front porch. we have a strong pair of binoculars. we also saw the space station go over, and a ufo. the ufo was what i call a flasher, very very bright flashes from this one, some regular, some after several minutes. satellites can do this but it changed direction and zig zagged, so it was a spaceship. about 1030. what was different was it was visible for a long time, and i managed to find it in the binoculars. it was a thin rod, which could be an aircraft shape, but it had to be large to be so visible at that distance. it also stayed lit, the entire rod, not a light, always but was not visible to the naked eye except when the whole thing lit up brighter than a full moon (intensity wise, not lighting up the ground and casting shadows like the moon). i have seen a brighter ufo once that cast shadows and made all the stars disappear, but this brightness was just like a very strong flashlight. very unusual sighting, flashers are one of the more common sightings but usually cannot be seen even with binoculars when not flashing. also the binoculars showed the entire object lit up, not some light on a plane, which of course we dont have the technology to do. i'm a rocket scientist with 20 years in the usaf and extensive knowledge of satellites, missiles, and aircraft as well as ufo sightings. this one was unusual as stated.
