Black Triangle Sighting in Jacksonville, Illinois – First appeared as a star in sky but started flashing colored lights

What first appeared as a star in the sky but started flashing and moving in an irregular pattern, up/down/left/right and had flashing red/white/green/blue lights. object was too far away to make detailed description but was definitely not an aircraft as it stayed in same general area from around 12:30am until after 1:30am at which time i lost view as trees obstructed view.
