Girlfriend and I were laying in bed and looking out the window. Girlfriend said "What's that bright light?" I wasn't sure, so I got out of bed to get a better look. I saw the object stationary in the southern sky, about 10 degrees up from the horizon. It was larger and brighter than a star and was slightly twinkling or pulsating. I thought it might be Venus, so I grabbed my phone to look up tonight's sky. When we looked back, after looking at the phone, the object had disappeared. We then went outside to see if we could see the object and we could not. There were several airplanes in the sky and none of them matched the color, intensity, and behavior of the stationary hovering object. The object was hovering, non-blinking, yellow, and very bright. All other objects in the sky (planes) could not match the observed object. Mercury was later identified in a different location than the observed object and Venus could not be located due to surrounding trees and houses. After losing sight of it, I was in shock and tried to come up with numerous explanations for the sudden disappearance.
