In Ocyober 1989 at about 7:30 pm I arrived to the 7-11 to fuel up my truck. It was night, but I could see because the city was lit up. While standing at pump a lady, who was also filling up, asked if I knew what that was in the sky. I looked from west to east and I saw a sphere. It was hovering next to the Franklin mountain and was about 209-300 ft above the ground. It was cloaked, transparent, but I could see the silohette of it. It was huge, about the length of two jumbo jet airplanes. The silohette looked fuzzy, but I could see it. It did not display any flashing lights or or headlights like airplanes have. But, it did have lights that looked like flames at the bottom side, about the lower quarter of the sphere. Although, the lights looked like flames, the lights didn't behave like flames. It looked like waves of flames circling the sphere, inside the sphere, not on the exterior.
We stood there for about 5 minutes and then it just diassapeared. Not even 10 seconds after that a military helicopter, probably from Ft. Bliss, flew into the area from the north.
During the time that the lady and myself stood out there I noticed that there was no traffic , but that street is usually a very busy street.
