UFO Sighting in Alamogordo, New Mexico on May 31st 1965 – Moved from west to east at speed of small airplain, made 90 degree turn and traveled about 50 miles in 1-2 seconds, Vanished

A person I worked with and myself were standing on the porch of the second story of our barracks. At Holloman AFB, NM. about midnight when we saw a light moving across the clear sky. We could observe very due to the lack of moon light. The light moved about the speed of a small aircraft from west to east until it reached about 1/4 the distance remaining to cross the valley. At this point the light made a sudden change of direction and headed south at such extreme speed as to travel aprox. 50 miles in 1-2 seconds. As we stood trying to evaluate what we saw; an Air Police patrol drove by and said "What are you doing?" When we asked if they had seen the object, they told us in very commanding tone that we had seen nothing.
