UFO Sighting in Scotts Valley, California on February 19th 2016 – pair of UFOs red/orange hovering that green/white when accelerating

Returning from picking up my son from work i saw two objects ~135deg SW ~30deg on the horizon. The time was ~8PM, I called my other son and we observed it for ~3-5 mins. It appeared red/orange and hovered while slowly moving SW. The lights changed green/white and it accelerated straight up in the sky. My thoughts on this are curiosity as to what this was. I never felt any fear or danger.
