I was in a pick-up with three friends. We had just left a favorite deer hunting spot and were proceeding East along the Appleton Ridge road. I was on the passenger side (north side of the truck). I noticed a woman on her house steps looking up into the sky and then a man on a tractor pointing toward the sky NE). I then saw what he was pointing at, a silver metallic object approximately 100 feet in length. I told the driver to slow down he was not yet able to see the object. The middle passenger said "What the hell is that?". I said something like, "I don't know but I want to find out". It was slowly crossing the farm field and descending towards the trees that were no more than 500 feet from the road. When it started to go behind the trees the driver got his best view and become very scared and he's not normally prone to fear. He refused to pull over and instead sped off despite our pleas not to. I had previously found a weather balloon before this incident and returned the instrument package as requested on the side plaque. So I can honestly say it was not a weather balloon. The structure remained in complete cigar shape until in disappeared behind the trees. I would estimate it was 100 feet long and 30 feet in diameter in the middle. It had the color of the dull side of aluminum foil but no discernable markings, lights or seams and no sound at all. It looked to be made of solid metal but it is possible it was some type of "blimp" like craft.
