UFO Sighting in Between Siletz and Corval, Oregon on July 31st 1988 – A large disc (soundless), hovering above the road. We pulled off to the side of the road. It then (in the blink of an eye) moved behind trees, then ascended into the sky & vanished

My mother decided to attempt a "short cut" between the small town of Siletz, OR. and Corvallis, OR. We were driving to Portland to catch a plane to N.Y. This lead us onto a logging road, where we got lost. Here's the very strange thing: we were talking about paranormal phenomenon, when we saw the UFO. Ever since I was a child, I was curious about it. I was just asking my mother to purchase for me, for Christmas, the "TIME LIFE" series of books about paranormal phenomenon, when we looked up, and saw a large (soundless) shimmering disc in the sky. My mother estimates it was a little over a football field away from the car. We were scared at first, then curious. It was huge. It was a silver/iridescent/shimmering color. Rainbow/iridescent lights were all around it's bottom round edge. My mother pulled the car off to the side of the road. She asked me to reach into the back seat of the car, and get my camera out of my luggage to take a photo of it. It was like they heard her ask me this. The minute I began the motion of turning around, the silver disc went from hovering, above the road to, in the blink of an eye, behind the patch of trees, just off to the left side of the road. My impression was they didn't want me to take a photo. It then, soundlessly, ascended and disappeared into the sky. I'm 39 yrs. old now. It was the summer after 8th grade, going into 9th grade. I remember it as clear as day. So does my mother, who is also available for questioning. We called the local police, and they said that several people had called in and reported it.
