UFO Sighting in Peru, Indiana on May 31st 1961 – Cigar shaped very high, three +? disk exit and leave to W, return up to an hour later, reenter, cigar leaves, out of sight.
Circa 6/1961 I was stationed at Bunker Hill AFB,SAC, now Grissom ARB, B-58s,KC-135s,B-47s,on alert. On the christmas tree Alert area about 0300 hrs. I was walking around assigned aircraft, 3 KC-135s, looked up and observed a cigar shaped UFO very high. Looked like sun in E glowing on bottom. Still dark on ground. Then three or more disk shaped UFOs, glowing white, exited the cigar shaped UFO and flew W and out of sight. There were two F-106s on alert. Several calls went to Security Control and Base OPS. The F-106s took off. No further info. Disk returned to mother ship and reentered. Then the cigar shaped UFO left E bound & out of sight. About 25 Security Police on the flight line were amazed & baffled.
