UFO Sighting in Wichita, Kansas on August 15th 1958 – Bright beam lit me and 2 others up on rural road in black of night silent

In about 1957 I was a teenager just too young to drive so my friends and I walked a lot in our rural neighborhood. One summer night we had snuck away from our sleepover in the middle of the night to raid cherry trees. Two of my friends and I were walking along a rural asphalt road in pitch blackness when we were bathed in a brilliant beam of light that came from straight above us. The beam was just large enough to circle the three of us and extremely bright, bright enough that we could see each other like it was daylight. I don't think any of us looked up; so we didn't see what was making the light. It stayed stationary for about 5 minutes and went out and it was completely black again. It didn't move across us like a moving object, just shined straight down on us. It was absolutely quiet before, during and after the event. There were no aircraft in our part of the sky and I was familure with the sound of a helicopter, and there was no such sound. I know the City of Wichita didn't even have a helicopter in those days. I just know that something very silent lit us up with a spotlight that didn't move for several minutes in total darkness as if they wanted to get a good look at us and then went away
