UFO Sighting in malta, on December 31st 1968 – On midwatch, aboard USS Putnam(DD 757) 6 orbs in formation on radar, watched, excellarated to 4,000 + MPH off radar scope

On midwatch onboard Uss Putnam (dd757) in Med, Radar Operator called in on intercom, come in here (CIC) and look at this. I left Sonar Shack and went to CIC to look at radar scope, there were 6 objects flying in formation off the starboard side of the ship. Went out on the wing of the bridge and observed 6 objects(lights) flying in formation approx. 2-3 miles from the ship. Observed for a few minutes, objects made a sharpe 90 degree turn and accelerated off the radar scope. The radar operator estimated their speed on acceleration at 4,000+ miles per hour.
