UFO Sighting in Branford, Connecticut on July 1st 1983 – lights appear to move to erratic to be an airplane.

My friend and I were sitting on a beach at night star gazing. We noticed two lights that appeared to be an airplane. The lights were moving in a straight line towards us and got close enough where we should of heard the sound of an airplanes engine, but, it was silent. All of a sudden the lights took a left rather quickly for a few seconds. The then it took an erratic right, went across the sky and appeared to go down in the next town over. All without making a sound. We thought it was definitely a UFO, so we went back to my house and told my mother. She called the Branford Police Department and they said, they got reports from other people on the incident and that's the last I heard about it
