UFO Sighting in Corvallis, Oregon on July 31st 1980 – On cloudless night while stargazing on roof, saw some stars ‘blanking out’ in V-shaped pattern from something travelling South to North in a slightly wavy path.

Back in 1979 or maybe 1980, between about 10 to 12 at night, I was laying alone on a mattress on a third story window well/ledge (basically on the roof, where I spent many warm summer nights reading and sleeping) and I was simply stargazing for a short while (no clouds), when I noticed something odd at about 50 degrees from South: some of the stars were momentarily 'blinking out' in an overall very large V-shaped pattern heading North, over my head and into the North where I couldn't see the affect anymore, the whole event lasting about a minute. There was no sound. I remember saying "wow" out loud to myself, and just watched in wonder. Also, throughout 'its flight' from S to N, the 'black-out' pattern slowly veered/wavered from side to side. My first impression was that it might be a v-shaped flock of ducks or geese, but it seemed way too high up for them. Although I had some doubt about the event being birds, I could only think that it had to be birds, as it couldn't be a plane or jet because there were no lights or noise; so I just shrugged my shoulders and never gave it much thought for many years, and never mentioned it to anyone, until the many years later when I decided that it could have been an early 'lights out' flight of the then secret stealth B-1 Bomber. I've often wondered if anyone else might have seen the same 'thing' that summer in Oregon, and that is why I am submitting this report.
